With a strong background in musical theatre and a focus on the science of the voice, Genevieve Pittorino has come a long way from South Africa. She is now the delighted principal of local music school ‘Soundworks Music Studio’ which is located in Weston Street, Brunswick.
Genevieve began her career by completing a Degree in Performance at the Melba Memorial Conservatorium of Music and became a teacher in search of finding the answers about her own voice and style. In 2004 Genevieve opened up her own studio in Lygon Street, Brunswick East then eventually moved to Weston Street, Brunswick where she has resided for 9 years.
The studio accommodates 270 students ranging from 6 to 80 years old and prides itself on professional voice and instrumental training. What makes the studio so unique is the ‘Estill Voice Training’ program which teaches people how to keep your voice healthy and prepares your instrument for not only singing, but for elevating your voice. Estill Voice training prepares you for public speaking to ensure you’re clear, confident and concise.
Soundworks also have a rock school which perform at local pubs which include East Brunswick Hotel, The Spotted Mallard and the Penny Black. They also offer scholarships for students with extra funding from these concerts and even allow students to record their own tracks in the studio. They have seen several students appear on talents shows for the likes of ‘The Voice’, ‘X Factor’ and ‘Australian Idol’ which proves the school is really nurturing the next generation of singers.
