Meet PIP from DENILIQUIN
Pip has been studying Visual Merchandising at RMIT since early 2020, she was drawn to the course as she loves having the ability to take a boring object and give it new life. “Barkly Square is a very inviting place, from the curved entrances to the great range of stops – it really is convenient for everyone”, Pip loves Brunswick and Barkly Square saying that the inviting pubs and outstanding food make it a go-to place for a day trip in Melbourne. Pip hopes the windows she designed help bring joy to the community after such a tough year. You can see Pip’s creative touches at Barkly Living and Condello’s until the end of December. |
Meet KAYLA from WALLAN Kayla decided to study Visual Merchandising at RMIT after enjoying bring her creative flair to displays when she worked in retail. Drawn into the Sparkly Bear project by her love of Christmas Kayla couldn’t wait to “bring the Christmas cheer to everyone after a really difficult year”. Kayla loves that Barkly Square is a hub for the local community and allows our customers to come together and enjoy a convenient shopping experience. Meet LEAH from THORNBURY
Leah started studying Visual Merchandising at RMIT in 2019, after working in retail and seeing the effects of a well put together window first hand she knew that’s what she wanted to do! “Visual Merchandising in stores at Christmas time really adds to the Christmas spirit” which is what made it so easy for Leah to say YES when she heard about our project. Leah loves the hidden gems around Brunswick and exploring the exciting things that are hidden around corners. In particular she loves the amazing produce you can find at Barkly Square “I pop by most weeks for groceries, the amazing produce and a few laps of Kmart”. Meet GIANNA from COBURG Gianna joined RMIT in 2020 to study Visual Merchandising, she loves design and always hoped to pursue a design career in the future. Drawn to the Sparkly Bear project due to her love of the Myer Christmas Windows, Gianna was excited to bring a touch of Christmas joy to Barkly Square. Gianna is not only a Sparkly Bear Window creator but also a friendly team member at Kmart Barkly Square. Gianna loves The Laneway as it provides a great atmosphere and sitting area to enjoy a meal with friends. You can see Gianna’s design at Evita Jewellery until the end of December. |

Meet REGINA from CARLTON
Regina has been studying at RMIT for the past 4 years and has enjoyed a range of creative courses including Arts, Design, Architecture and now Visual Merchandising. Regina landed on Visual merchandising as it showcases a unique and practical way for her to use her design and styling skills. Excited to have her work displayed in her local Centre, Regina loved the idea of her window bringing a positive impact to her local community. Her favourite thing about Brunswick is the vibrant array of shops, bars and parks she says that living near this area has influenced her design and personal style a lot! Regina loves the Barkly Square community and the incredibly unique and special stores the Centre has. Meet MADDIE from GLEN HUNTLY Maddie has been studying with RMIT for the last 5 years, and started her diploma of Visual Merchandising this year after finishing a Bachelor of Design in 2017. Maddie loves the alternatively and homely feel of Brunswick and the quirky spaces around the area. Maddie was drawn to the community feel at Barkly Square and hopes that the windows allow for the community to still enjoy the Christmas holiday period after the craziness of 2020.
